TI Session

Image
TI Session For this TI session, we were taught how to add images and patterns onto products with photoshop. This gave us a good insight into what our potential products could look like once created. I found this useful as I could use this to see what my designs could look like on products quickly and simply, giving me extra time. This is also more cost effective for me, as I don't have to waste money on extra products for tests.

Winter Fair Overview!

Image
Winter Fair Overview! This is my finished Winter Fair stall! I am so happy and proud of myself with how well it has all come together, even with quick on the day changes and extras being popped in. I feel with my added decorations and stands, my stall really stood out against the rest and was powerful within itself. I had to make some minor changes and add ons in the beginning, alike adding the bauble sign as to catch peoples attention and also make people aware to handle my work with care. I also had to add my bank details for bank transfers throughout the day, as to make it easier for my customers. I also made a change to the price list within the last hour of the fair, as I still had not of prints to sell and wished for as much of it to go as I could. So, other than the sold out posters, I took every other product down £2. Whilst not a lot different to the original prices, this created a new flow of foot traffic, which sold off many more of my prints. When considering my target audi...

Packaging & Pricing

Image
Packaging & Pricing My packaging I found a challenge the entire time, as I wanted something that would show off the bauble and sweets inside, whilst being safe and secure for my product. I first ordered boxes with windows in that were unfortunately the wrong size. However, after going back and rechecking sizing, I ordered a new packaging set, which are the boxes below.  These boxes were ordered off of amazon and have proven to do wonders for my baubles. The baubles fit perfectly with room to spare for treats, and a nice big window that showcases the work inside. The only downfall I found with these boxes was the secure clasp. The clasps were very small and flimsy, proving to rip more than anything else, as shown below. That proved to be a problem as I have been very persistent on my want for product safety. To try and fix this issue, I tried multiple different ideas. The ideas that I found that work to prevent the ripping were opening the clasp up more, and adding washy tape ov...

Products - Posters & Prints

Image
Product Posters & Prints For the A5 prints and A3 posters, I knew I had to create multiples to a high standard if I wanted a chance of selling my work. So, I began by taking in normal sketchbook paper to print onto, as to not risk the use of my expensive print paper. Im glad I did this, as I had many print outs that came out dull or wrong. While I was aware this could partly be because of my choice of paper, I played around with the printer settings on both the printer and photoshop, as to understand the problem and fix it. However, looking at a few of the different/dull prints,      I ended up really liking some of them. The grey scale change between the prints below, for example, were beautiful and created an interestingly different atmosphere to the environment. Some of these dull prints I decided to keep and still sell, particularly after a few peers made compliments on their appearance. I decided to keep 4 in total, two of each roping design that match and are 'l...

Product - Cards

Image
Product Cards development After deciding that 3D cards were out of the picture for me, I decided to focus more on normal Christmas cards. At first, I looked into adding my environments onto the cards as the art, but decided against it as it felt like a repeat. Instead, I looked towards my character designs again. Looking to my sticker designs specifically, I took inspiration and, along with reference photos, designed the two designs to the right. I didn't want to overcomplicate the card designs, so am really happy with the designs.  I then move forward with them by redesigning them digitally, and adding more line details in.  After redesigning these digitally, and inking them in, I had to decide how I was going to make them. I made the decision to hand paint them on nice but cheaper paper as to save my money from printing.  Using acrylic paints and fine liners, I redrew the design onto these hand made cards and am really happy with how they all came out. Each card feels...

Branding Update

Image
Branding Update My branding is now complete. From the last post on branding I made, I developed the business cards and added my new art instagram page, as to push myself as an artist. Im super happy with how the business cards came out, although slightly thinner than I had wanted, the art and type came out strong and powerful. I may develop this more in the future as I develop as an artist, but for now Im proud to have these business cards representing me.

Product - Baubles 4

Image
Product Baubles 4 This bauble set was inspired by the perviously scrapped set of baubles. I decided to combine the first sets style of trees with the colour palette of the third set to create this simple yet beautiful design.  I made this babble with the same process as the previous set, adding the background in first in slow layers, then adding the trees and finishing it off with paint flicks. This bauble I found much easier to paint, as I didn't feel the same pressure to make it accurate as I did the last set. I also love the art style for painting these trees, so it took half the time and was much easier as a whole to complete.  As an extra fun spice to this set, I decided to add glitter to the trees. Although finicky and hard to stick, I managed and am really happy with the outcome. Although not easy to see in these photos, the glitter can be seen against lights, especially on trees. Overall, Im really happy with this set and would develop it further by making the trees in...
