Environment Ideas


After researching into environments and collecting some reference photos and inspiration from other artists, tiinasdiary on instagram with her beautiful snowy landscapes and trees, I decided to create some sketches of some ideas. I mostly thought about snowy environments, and how each could be similar but very different to each other. So, I looked into zoomed in scenes, cinematic scenes, very detailed scenes and much more.

Out of the four sketches I created, I really like the first and third sketches the best. I feel they have nice compositions and are detailed whilst having simple contrasting moments also. The first is based off of a sled track through the snow, of which is very relevant and I feel with more work could be very promising. The third is just a detailed sketch of a photo I found, of which I think has turned out really well. I won't take this one through development however, as I believe the energy of the sketch doesn't match what I was aiming for. Looking at the second, I would like to bring it through development as I believe with changes made it could be a beautiful scene.

Overall, I'm happy with the start of these environment designs. I'm not very confident with environments, it being out of my comfort zone so I am happy to be pushing myself to try something new and different.

Product Posters & Prints For the A5 prints and A3 posters, I knew I had to create multiples to a high standard if I wanted a chance of selling my work. So, I began by taking in normal sketchbook paper to print onto, as to not risk the use of my expensive print paper. Im glad I did this, as I had many print outs that came out dull or wrong. While I was aware this could partly be because of my choice of paper, I played around with the printer settings on both the printer and photoshop, as to understand the problem and fix it. However, looking at a few of the different/dull prints,      I ended up really liking some of them. The grey scale change between the prints below, for example, were beautiful and created an interestingly different atmosphere to the environment.
