Environment Research

One thing for this book I specifically wanted to look into is the environments, and where the book is based. As I have written below for my presentation, Environment is a very important factor into creating immersion and atmosphere within a book. This book has been written brilliantly to help the audience understand the true dangers and cruelty the environments have, and the weathers effects on our characters. 

I specifically looked into Yukon and the borders of Alaska that the sled teams would travel during the Gold Rush in the 1890's. As suspected, I found the environments were hostile and made for the hard of mind. Many would be injured and killed during that time, simply from the unsuspecting weather and environments they placed themselves in, and the lack of experience they had. This included the dogs, specifically the ones stolen from the South. I want to keep all of this in mind when moving forward with developing some ideas for environments, as I want the beauty to come through also.

Product Posters & Prints For the A5 prints and A3 posters, I knew I had to create multiples to a high standard if I wanted a chance of selling my work. So, I began by taking in normal sketchbook paper to print onto, as to not risk the use of my expensive print paper. Im glad I did this, as I had many print outs that came out dull or wrong. While I was aware this could partly be because of my choice of paper, I played around with the printer settings on both the printer and photoshop, as to understand the problem and fix it. However, looking at a few of the different/dull prints,      I ended up really liking some of them. The grey scale change between the prints below, for example, were beautiful and created an interestingly different atmosphere to the environment.
