Baubles 2
For the second set of baubles, I took inspiration from my sticker designs. Unfortunately I couldn't make stickers, but I still wanted to take the designs forward as I did really like them. So, taking them as inspiration, I made a digital design idea for a set of baubles. I took inspiration from Pinterest images of St Bernards, and people editing images of their pets with hearts and colour. I decided to take the colour from an instagram image I was, a beautiful soft pink. Then, adding the popular slogan 'Santa paws' and a paw drawing. I loved the design, however when referring back to the baubles I quickly realised that Buck was too detailed for me the paint. So, taking reference photos from social media once again, I decided to wing it on the baubles with no background to see how it would look. I decided to find different body and face poses of St Bernards and paint them on, wanting to challenge myself.
After painting in the colours and outlining the designs in black, I decided I really liked the designs and moved on with this idea. Although I quickly came to the realisation that I would have to do something different with the backgrounds, as I had painted the main piece on first. I quickly remied this, however, by painting the inside of the baubles the nice pink colour, as the baubles I bought split in half. This was a wonderful way of filling the background whilst leaving the design untouched. I decided to keep the 'Santa Paws' and paw design by adding it to the other side of the baubles. I had more trouble than I had initially anticipated for the text, as it was slim and very hard to make look sleek and elegant. However, with patience and time I managed to get it to a satisfactory level.
Overall, I'm really happy with the outcomes of each bauble, however I would definitely develop this further by redesigning some areas and adding the Santa hats to the dogs. I would also spend more time perfecting the text as to clean it up a lot more.
