Baubles 3 - scrapped


This was a design I tried but unfortunately wasn't happy with. I had the idea of including the sled dogs and adding the popular 'let it snow' slogan to catch more peoples attention. On the digital design it looks beautiful and would look like it works. However, when It came to the actual bauble, it was a completely different story.

I started this bauble off the same way I did the first bauble set, by painting in the background first. After letting this dry, I started with an off white paint and tried blocking in shapes and the text. Even from this stage I wasn't very happy with how it was turning out. I felt it was all oddly spaced and i needed a smaller brush to get the true details. But I pushed through none the less, trying to trust the process and push through to try and save the design. I started being more careful and spent far too much time trying to keep the necessary gaps between the sled dogs and the trees. I also really struggled with keeping both sides of the bauble equal to one another.
While yes, I did manage to get the idea down onto the bauble, I really didn't and still don't like it. In comparison to my design, the bauble is spaced very oddly and the text is way too big. I also feel the paint was going patchy for some reason, of which didn't help the paint layers. 

I am proud of myself for trying to push through and save this design, but I knew that this one bauble took me far too long to create and I don't have time to fiddle with the small details. I believe had I had a finer, smaller brush I would have gotten along better with the design. I also believe there was something odd with the original paint base which was throwing off the rest of the paint layers, so that is definitely worth keeping in mind.

Product Posters & Prints For the A5 prints and A3 posters, I knew I had to create multiples to a high standard if I wanted a chance of selling my work. So, I began by taking in normal sketchbook paper to print onto, as to not risk the use of my expensive print paper. Im glad I did this, as I had many print outs that came out dull or wrong. While I was aware this could partly be because of my choice of paper, I played around with the printer settings on both the printer and photoshop, as to understand the problem and fix it. However, looking at a few of the different/dull prints,      I ended up really liking some of them. The grey scale change between the prints below, for example, were beautiful and created an interestingly different atmosphere to the environment.
