Product Research Update

After a lot of research into products, with both pricing and actual creation processes, I have reached a few decisions. For one, I now know that creating mugs wont be possible for me as the pricing would be very high, even with my Dad's help. I had contacted my dad, who works within a company who have a mug printing machine. We had a few conversations on the process and overall pricing, and whether he believed it worth me trying. These conversations led to us trying different routes, of which is sad but something I'm happy I know now rather than later on in the creative process.

We spoke about potential other products that could give me the same gift set idea, of which I suggested Baubles. I had seen hand painted baubles at Christmas craft fairs before, and so decided to do some research. To buy a bundle of baubles it would cost a lot less than I believed, and with products I have at home and some varnish, it would be a win. Although that will be researched thoroughly before I go ahead.

I have also been looking into stickers, posters, print and cards. I am confident most of these products will be made for the fair, as I believe these products would be the strongest with my work. The only one I     question is the stickers, as having spoken to the print bureau on campus, they are very packed with other students wanting stickers also. I will be still creating the designs ready, however I will be looking into this problem to see what can be done.

Product Posters & Prints For the A5 prints and A3 posters, I knew I had to create multiples to a high standard if I wanted a chance of selling my work. So, I began by taking in normal sketchbook paper to print onto, as to not risk the use of my expensive print paper. Im glad I did this, as I had many print outs that came out dull or wrong. While I was aware this could partly be because of my choice of paper, I played around with the printer settings on both the printer and photoshop, as to understand the problem and fix it. However, looking at a few of the different/dull prints,      I ended up really liking some of them. The grey scale change between the prints below, for example, were beautiful and created an interestingly different atmosphere to the environment.
